With two countermarks stamped on a dirham of his father and predecessor Dhu’l-Qarnayn (AH 547-557 / AD 1152-1162). In a central circle, ‘al-wāthiq / Dhu’l-Qarnayn ibn / ʿAyn al-Dawla’ (‘Confident [in God], Dhu’l-Qarnayn son of ʿAyn al-Dawla’ in Arabic); in the margin, O MEΓAC AMHPAC ΔOΛXAΡNA[ΙΝ]’ (‘The Great Amir Dhu’l-Qarnayn’ in Greek); countermark in the center: ‘Muḥammad’ in Arabic. Rev. Bare-headed bust to right; in the margin, ‘INΔIKTIωNOC ΔEVTEPIC’ (‘The second indiction’ in Greek); countermark in the center: ‘ΜΑ/XΑΜ/ΑΤ’ (‘Muhammad’ in Greek). Album 1241K.
